Green & Sustainable Building

greensustainablebuildingClean Air Group understands that the realization for a “Green” and “Sustainable” build begins very early in the Pre-Construction phase of your project. However, it is very common for older standing structures to adopt new and innovative measures in order to decrease the building’s carbon footprint. In either case, Clean Air Group specializes in providing both Green and Sustainable building options – although the two are not mutually exclusive.

While “Green” products may mean that material used took less fossil fuel to manufacture, this doesn’t necessarily take into consideration the long term future energy costs and needs for running your facility or home. It is for this reason, that Clean Air Group intelligently selects materials and systems utilized in order to provide the optimum future situational and environmental impact in your build.

At the same time, we stay current with the assortment of programs outlined by LEEDS (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Green Building Council, National Green Building, BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) as well as other sustainability programs so that we can present an abundance of options to our clients.

Here at Clean Air Group, with a keen eye towards the future, we are always looking to implement sustainable aspects across all phases of your project’s build. Examples include double exterior walls, geothermal heating systems, green roof systems, rainwater harvesting systems and any other technology that will help to reduce our environmental impact and make your facility or home, as comfortable and self-sufficient as possible. As a “Green” company ourselves, we strive as builders to reduce our footprint during your build and our operations. You’ll find us consolidating our deliveries, reducing our construction waste by recycling where applicable and even re-purposing items when possible.

Here’s a few of the topics we can address:

  • Building Site & Topography:

Properly placed homes or facilities can maximize the environment’s solar and heating conventions. Other considerations may include strategically placed eaves, overhangs, skylights, tree/landscaping, or other solar options.

  • Surface Water Run Off:

Proper drainage and water run off management is key to a sustainable build. Unfortunately, surface water run off is often a secondary consideration but a necessary one, to prevent the potential for building damage. However, as the continued rise of water conservation awareness begins to manifest in the areas we serve, Clean Air Group is happy to deliver advanced measures for water harvesting with innovative solutions to manage surface water run off.

  • Energy:

Creating energy efficiencies in your home or facility is a worthy goal. Clean Air Group can implement alternative energy sources or a hybrid of conventional and alternative energy sources for your build. Serious consideration for high energy efficient appliances rated by Energy Star is just one example. Other consideration for on-demand hot water heaters versus conventional hot water heaters can save you thousands over time.

  • Managing your Thermal Envelope:

The transference of temperature from outdoors to indoors and indoors to outdoors is what is commonly referred to as your “thermal envelope”. This starts with our careful attention to sealing your home or facility as a means by which to reduce energy exchange. Consideration to your building’s solar heat gains are also given – which can be helpful during winter months but can be counter efficient during summer months. Other options include the use of lighter colored roofing materials, triple pane (low E/gas filled thermal pane windows), radiant barriers and an assortment of insulation types are also considered.

  • CO2 Emissions:

House-hold emissions – most commonly derived from the fossil fuels used to heat your home or facility – account for nearly 33% on average of your total Green House Gas output. (Source: 2006 Systems-Based GHG Inventory US Domestic Emissions.) That said, Clean Air Group confidently recommends and can integrate a variety of innovative and earth friendly solutions that can reduce your building’s reliance on fossil fuels. Some of these include geothermal aspects of heating and cooling, solar thermal heating systems, solar panel PV systems.

  • Indoor Air Quality:

Indoor Air Quality, sometimes referred to as Fresh Air Exchange is a serious consideration in today’s modern buildings. Clean Air Group can assist you in determining whether a Heat-Recovery Ventilator, Energy Recovery Ventilator, or a Conditioned Energy Recovery Ventilator is appropriate for your project. Factors like your building’s occupancy, size, HVAC capacity, levels of structural leaks, and humidity are measured and considered.
